WitneyTV was launched in May 2010 and quickly became the site of choice for West Oxfordshire residents for the news and current affairs. Thriving to report only positive stories, WitneyTV produce short films to promote this great area. The produced films and administration of WitneyTV is done entirely by volunteers. WitneyTV currently recieves support from a number of organisations which include Witney Town Council and Witney Round Table and Witney Town Hall Charities, West Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership – Thames Valley Police, Oxfordshire County Council, Thames Valley Crimestoppers, West Oxfordshire District Council.
Current Volunteer Profiles
Andy took a back room role in WitneyTV from the offset by designing and producing the graphics and animations.
He has since taken an additional roles in filming, editing and producing WitneyTV’s content.
Janine brings an artistic flair to the films of WitneyTV – in other words, if you see a tight shot of a flower or a focus pull its most probably her filming! She also offers advice on editing and keeps us all grounded!
Lizzie (the one member of WitneyTV who actually has a clue what she’s doing as she has a BA in Photography!) makes up for in skill what she lacks in height!
Joe originally supplied us with music for our Jubilee videos and then “agreed” to help us should we need him in any other capacity. Obviously we snapped him up on the offer!
Lucas originally volunteered with WitneyTV “for the bant”. We weren’t sure what this actually meant, as none of us speak “youth” but he seems to enjoy being out in the sunshine and so we leave him to it!
Hannah is currently studying Film and Media so if you see any Speilberg-esque dolly-zooms reminiscent of “Jaws” or Kubrick style extreme camera angles and long tracking shots, you’ll know she was involved in the video!
We are proud to support SpecialEffect who are a charity very close to our hearts. They level the playing field through technology so that people with disabilities can compete, interact and socialise with friends and family. Each case is treated individually and they do whatever they can and whatever it takes to create “magic moments”. Further information and case studies are available on their website www.specialeffect.org.uk
